joan and her mystical voice

Joan Baez has been one of my favorite musicians since highschool. I remember hearing ‘The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down’ on the radio and her voice absolutely enchanted me.

One performance of hers I absolutely love is her singing ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’ live in London 1965. Her voice is so angelic and I understand completely when Bob Dylan said“…she looked like a religious icon, like somebody you’d sacrifice yourself for and she sang in a voice straight to God..” What a privilege it must have been to have seen her live in the 60s and 70s.

I’m glad more people are being exposed to her because of the new Bob Dylan biopic, but something shutters inside of me when people reducer her to only as ‘Bob Dylan’s love interest’.

My film came in a couple of days ago so I’m gonna try to find the batteries my camera needs so I can start taking some better photos. Might post those on my journal page when I get the chance.
